Our 4th artist in residence was Clive Tonge who joined us throughout July in order to help develop his portrait series. This focused photographing individuals by celebrating their identities and history in a unique way.

Each portrait taken of the residents was accompanied by items that was meaningful to them and represented them. As well as them being within their favourite room and on their favourite chair. Clive’s aim with this was to honour and document the richness of later life in a unique way.

Clive also helped restore some of the residents’ old photos by either adding colour to them or making them black and white depending on their requests. Some other restoration included increasing the sharpness of the images to give them more life or using AI to animate their image and make it come to life. All these images were then distributed back to the residents who greatly appreciated the work that they had done.
