There is a group of Charities focussed on providing support for educational purposes within the Ancient Parish of St Mary Newington (the “area of benefit”). Collectively these Charities are known as “The St Mary Newington Charities”, and they aim to distribute approx. £25,000 per year in eligible grants. One particular charity, the St Mary Newington Educational Foundation, is required to distribute not less than 40% of its income to the four named Church of England schools within the Ancient Parish of St Mary Newington. These schools are:
St Paul’s CoE Primary School, Lorrimer Square
St John’s CoE Primary School, Larcom Street
St Peter’s CoE Primary School, Liverpool Grove
ARK All Saints Academy, Wyndham Road
The balance of the SMN Charities’ income may be used at the discretion of the trustees for grants to schools in the area of benefit and providing financial assistance to pupils attending those schools. All grants must be for educational purposes.
Application forms for all the above grants may also be obtained from the Charities Office.
